Ranks of the Guyana Police Force (GPF) on Friday discovered a large quantity of cannabis at an East Coast Demerara property, after acting on information provided.

According to information received, officers would have visited 13th Street, Dazelle Housing Scheme, ECD, where a search was conducted at an unfinished concrete structure. There, a bag containing nine “bulky” parcels of suspected cannabis was discovered.
After weighing the content, it amounted to 9525 grams. Police are continuing their investigation and did not arrest anyone at that time.
Meanwhile, in a separate operation, ranks arrested a 24-year-old Mahdia resident, for possession of suspected cannabis. The pork-knocker was stopped during a police patrol at 11 Miles, Mahdia, Region Eight (Potaro-Siparuni), where 20 grams of the illegal drug was found in his custody.

He was arrested and is expected to be charged soon for the offence.
