A salt bag containing more than nine kilograms of ganja was on Thursday morning found at the New Amsterdam Market during a routine patrol around its environs. The discovery was made at about 6:00h by a Constable attached to the New Amsterdam Mayor and Town Council.

Based on information received, the Constable was on patrol duty in the New Amsterdam Market area when he observed a bulky salt bag in the market. As such, he opened the bag to inspect its contents, and discovered seven bulky parcels. He immediately reported the matter to the Central Police Station, and a rank who visited the scene checked the bag and discovered the cannabis.
The bag was taken to the Police Station, where it was weighed and amounted to 9 kilos 732 grams. No arrest has as yet been made.
