Overseas-based teen among 4 robbed at gunpoint

Four persons, including two overseas-based Guyanese, were on Saturday evening robbed by four armed men at Number 68 Village, Corentyne, Berbice. The robbery reportedly took place around 21:30h.
The victims are a 51-year-old and a 47-year-old of Number 68 Village, along with a 39-year-old female visitor and her 19-year-old son,.
They were relieved of two mobile phones, one pair of gold earrings, eight gold bangles, two diamond rings, one gold ring, and about $175,000 in cash.
Police stated that on the day in question, the victims were in front of their yard imbibing when four unidentifiable males – all dressed with dark coloured clothing and black masks entered the yard, through a gate which was opened, and held them at gunpoint.
The men, who were armed with a gun and a knife, demanded money and jewellery during which time they took away the above-mentioned items before making good their escape. The Police were contacted and an investigation was launched.
Checks were reportedly made for the perpetrators, but proved futile.
