Ovideo is overall winner of LGC golf tourney

Another in-house golf tournament was hosted on Saturday by the Lusignan Golf Club (LGC), and a total of 20 persons braved the inclement weather to compete in that highly-anticipated tournament. At the end of play, Miguel Ovideo had stormed to the title, while the in-form Patrick Prashad settled for second place and LGC President Patanjilee Persaud bagged third place.

* 3rd: Patanjilee Persaud; Gross 86, Hc 12, Net 74.

The winners’ row

After the tournament, LGC Vice President Paton George disclosed that a total of 30 players had registered, but 10 dropped out because of the inclement weather “having its way”. George also said, “It rained periodically throughout the tournament, but that makes for an interesting round of golf. The conditions were soggy, and the ball wouldn’t go anywhere; you have to adjust to the conditions and play a strategic game, accept some higher scores, knowing that it’s the field that is going to be affected, and not just play. So, you keep within your game and plod along.”

Miguel Ovideo was the overall winner

George also related that, because of the conditions, eventual winner Miguel Ovideo was able to plod along, even though the scores were not normal because of the soggy conditions on the ground. He said the 20 participants had a great time, and even though the rain caught them on several instances, they still enjoyed themselves, owing to the impeccable works of the fairway that is cut and the drainage which prevented the logging of water.
“Still, it was difficult. We are going to have to do a little bit of repairs on the fairway, so we will probably not have a tournament next week, at least not a sponsored tournament. We are going to hold that off while we get the conditions back to pristine. But, all in all, great weekend, and we look forward to another COVID-friendly, COVID-compliant golf tournament,” George posited.
