PAC invites nominations for Public Procurement Commission

The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the Parliament of Guyana is inviting political parties, civil society organisations, stakeholders, and members of the public to nominate eligible persons for appointment to the Public Procurement Commission (PPC).
In a notice published on Wednesday, the committee said it was seeking nominations from a broad cross-section of society as part of the process to establish the commission.
The deadline for submitting nominations is Wednesday, November 11, 2026.
The PAC said nominees must have expertise and experience in procurement, legal, financial and administrative matters, in keeping with the requirements set out in Article 212X of the Constitution of Guyana.
The Constitution provides for a five-member commission, with members nominated by the PAC and approved by at least two-thirds of the elected members of the National Assembly before being appointed by the President.
The committee also expressed a desire for the commission’s composition to reflect, as far as possible, Guyana’s national and gender makeup.
However, it stressed that competence must be the primary consideration in selecting nominees. Candidates are also expected to be of good repute, have no criminal record and have no history of bankruptcy.
According to the notice, the committee decided to invite nominations from a wide range of sources to encourage participation from those with an interest in the establishment and proper functioning of the commission.
The commissioners, once appointed, will serve on a part-time basis.
The Public Procurement Commission plays a role in overseeing public procurement and promoting transparency and accountability in the award and administration of government contracts.
Submissions must come from clearly identifiable addresses or named organisations and should be addressed to the Clerk of the Committee, Public Accounts Committee, Committees Division, Parliament Office, Public Buildings, Brickdam, Georgetown.
Nominations may also be submitted by email to [email protected]. Further information can be obtained by calling 226-8458, extension 233.
