ce (GPF) for apprehending one the suspects involved in their son’s murder.
The suspect was arrested and is being questioned in connection with the murder of the 23-year-old marketing representative.
The suspect was identified as Dwayne Castello, 27, of East Ruimveldt, Georgetown. He is currently being treated for his gunshot injury under guard at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
Based on reports received, policemen were on patrol duty and based on information gathered, they proceeded to Genip Lane, East Ruimveldt, where they saw the suspect.
Castello, also known as “Top Cat”, upon seeing the cops, attempted to mount a motorcycle.
The officers had disembarked the vehicle when Castello pulled out a firearm and discharged several rounds in their direction.

As a result, the ranks took evasive action and one rank returned fire, hitting the wanted man on his left foot below his knee.
He was arrested and a .9mm pistol with six live matching rounds in the magazine was found at the scene.
When Guyana Times contacted Samaroo’s family on Friday, Sugrim Samaroo, father to the now dead man said: “I feel good that he has been arrested, I also think persons that he committed other crimes on would be glad.”

“For me personally I am glad that he has been arrested so that I can get my justice after that. My mind is now at ease. The guy Top Cat is one of the guys that was riding the motorbike, he is involved in killing my son”, he explained.
On July 23, Samaroo was shot and killed at Middle Road, La Penitence.
Reports are, Samaroo had visited a city bank and the Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) to conduct the company’s business, after which, he went home to collect his lunch. However, on his way back to work, he was intercepted, robbed, shot and killed.
Following the young man’s death, one person was arrested twice and released. That same person was being accused of being the mastermind behind the robbery and the man’s death.
Guyana Times understands that the suspect was a close family friend and was in possession of information that Samaroo would have been transporting a large amount of cash on the day he was killed, but this was not the case.
