Parika boat worker granted bail for assaulting reputed wife

Graham James, of Retreat, Parika, East Bank Essequibo (EBE), was charged at the Wales Magistrate’s Court late last week for unlawfully assaulting his common-law wife, causing her actual bodily harm.
The matter allegedly occurred on December 28, 2017 at the home the two shared.

However, James entered a not-guilty plea when the charge was read to him by Magistrate Annette Singh on Thursday last.
He told the court that the woman was his “child mother”. James, a boat worker, was released on $20,000 bail and was ordered to stay with his sister in another section of Parika. He was also ordered to stay 50 feet away from the Virtual Complainant for the duration of the matter, which was transferred to the Leonora Magistrate’s Court.
The case will continue on February 14.
