Parika woman brutally beaten to death by abusive husband

Twenty-five-year-old Parbattie Amanda Persaud of Parika Façade, East Bank Essequibo (EBE), is now dead after she was mercilessly beaten by her abusive husband with a piece of wood on Sunday.
Based on information received, Persaud and the suspect, 39-year-old Guradean Lallaram, a mason, shared a common law relationship for the past six years. They have a three-year-old daughter together.
During the relationship, Persaud was constantly abused by the suspect, but she never reported the matter to the Police. About three weeks ago, the couple had a misunderstanding which turned physical thus resulting in the woman moving out of the home with her child.

However, on Sunday at about 05:30h, Persaud was walking along the Parika Access Road heading towards the market, when she was confronted by the suspect, who was riding an electric scooter.
A heated argument broke out between the couple during which the suspect disembarked the scooter, picked up a piece of wood and dealt the woman one lash to her head thus resulting in her falling to the ground.
Not pleased, he stood over her and dealt her several blows to her face. The entire ordeal was recorded on a mobile phone by a resident in the area.
After committing the act, the suspect dropped the wood and made good his escape on the scooter. According to reports, he stopped a short distance away from the scene and hid in a clump of bushes.
The Police were summoned and he was arrested and taken to the Parika Police Station, along with the suspected murder weapon.
Meanwhile, the injured woman, who was in and out of consciousness, was picked up and taken to the Leonora Cottage Hospital where she succumbed while receiving medical attention.
The suspect was told of the allegation and later confessed to committing the crime which was recorded. He remains in custody and is expected to be charged with the capital offence of murder.
