Partly decomposed body of pensioner found in home

The partially decomposed body of an 83-year-old female pensioner was on Thursday discovered in her Smythfield, New Amsterdam, Berbice home.
The body of Maud Agatha Forde of Lot 136 Smythfield was found by Police after neighbours reported a foul smell emanating from her home.
Police stated that on the day in question, ranks received calls from residents of a foul smell emanating from the deceased’s residence, and as such they went to the scene. Upon their arrival, the body was found lying face down on the floor.
It was then checked for marks of violence but due to the advanced stage of decomposition, none was seen. Guyana Times understands that Forde was last seen alive on Friday last.
The body was taken to Bailey’s Funeral Home awaiting a post-mortem.
