PAS Cargo Guyana secures IDB’s financing to accelerate digital transformation, logistic expansion

PAS Cargo Guyana Inc has entered into a financing agreement with Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) Lab to support the company’s digital transformation and geographic expansion, marking a significant new chapter in its continued growth and development in Guyana. The financing will enable PAS Cargo Guyana to strengthen its technology and operational capabilities, expand its geographic reach, and enhance the logistics solutions available to businesses and communities across Guyana. The financing agreement was signed in the presence of Finance Minister Dr Ashni Singh; IDB Country Representative Lorena Solorzano Salazar; General Manager (GM) of IDB Lab Graham Macmillan; Guyana’s Counsellor to the IDB Board Navita Anganu Ramroop; Chief Planning Officer of the Ministry of Finance Tarachand Balgobin; and Private Sector Development Consultant at IDB Lab Maria Niles.

Dr Singh congratulated PAS Cargo on its breakthrough as the first Guyanese private sector company to secure financial assistance from IDB Lab, and he also reiterated his support for such ventures as he reminded that the Government continues to encourage more Guyanese companies to take the opportunity to engage with IDB Lab and other private sector arms of these international financial institutions. The financing will support PAS Cargo Guyana’s digital transformation and geographic expansion, strengthening the company’s ability to provide modern logistics services and improve access to logistics solutions for small businesses across Guyana. The agreement represents an important next stage in PAS Cargo Guyana’s development after 14 years of operations in the country. Established in Georgetown in 2012, the company provides a one-stop cargo clearance facility with the convenience of easy access, secure cargo processing, and a safe dock high facility. Services include documentation, cargo handling, in-house customs clearance, import and export logistics and door delivery services.
Executive Director of PAS Cargo Guyana Inc Shridat Naraine signed on behalf of the company, while IDB Lab GM Graham Macmillan signed on behalf of IDB Lab.
Following the signing, Naraine stated, “This is more than financing for PAS Cargo; this milestone represents confidence in what we have built in Guyana and in our plans for the future.”
He added, “We entered this market long before Guyana became an oil-producing nation, and we have continued to invest, adapt and grow with the country. This partnership gives us an opportunity to strengthen our technology, expand our services, and make logistics more accessible and efficient for the businesses that depend on us.” PAS Cargo Guyana Inc is a 100 per cent Guyanese-owned entity and Local Content Certified.
