Pastor critical after hit-and-run accident

Police on Tuesday morning arrested a woman in relation to a hit-and-run accident on Sunday in Berbice, but she denied that she was driving the car implicated at the time.
The accident has left Pastor Cecil Agard, 76, of Nurseville, New Amsterdam, in a critical state at the New Amsterdam Hospital. He was reportedly struck off his motorcycle while riding along the Number Two Public Road, East Canje

The owner of the car had told investigators that a female friend was using the car at the alleged time of the accident and as such, he took investigators to the friend’s

home at Tucber Park, New Amsterdam, but she was not found until Tuesday morning.
However, the woman claimed that she was not driving the car at the time of the accident.
After the accident, the injured pastor’s son, Raymond Agard, reportedly visited the accident scene where he found fragments of the car and was subsequently able to identify it and its owner.
Checks for the owner led Agard to a bar in New Amsterdam and as such, the Police were summoned. The car was also searched during which one bottle of

whisky, a cutlass and several grams of cannabis were unearthed. The left side light was damaged. As such, the owner was arrested and was expected to be charged shortly.
