“Pastor”, fisherman, woman charged for narco trafficking
Two men and a woman were separately charged for the offence of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.
Adrian Hetmyer, 43, a fisherman of Sheet Anchor, East Canje, Berbice and Kenston Charles, also known as “Pastor”, 29, a labourer, also of Sheet Anchor, were charged on Tuesday.
They appeared at the New Amsterdam Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Alex Moore and the charges were read to them.
The charge was laid under Section 5 (1ai) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Control) Act 10:10. The defendants both pleaded not guilty and were remanded to prison.
The case was adjourned to October 12, 2021.
Meanwhile, Michelle Dhroap, 44, of Lot 34 Number 65 Village, Corentyne, Berbice, was also charged for possession of narcotics contrary to Section 4 (1a¡) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Control), Act 10:10.
She appeared at the Number 51 Magistrate’s Court also before Magistrate Moore and the charge was read to her.
She pleaded guilty and was fined $10,000. (G9)
