Peacemaker stabbed to chest with scissors

A man who attempted to make peace between his brother and another man was in the wee hours of Sunday stabbed to his chest at Kildonan, Corentyne, Berbice, Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne).
The injured man is Godfrey Leitch, 46, of Lancaster, Corentyne, Berbice.
Based on reports received, the victim, his brother and a few others were consuming alcohol at Kildonan when the suspect turned up. Soon after, an argument broke out between the victim’s brother and the suspect.
Upon seeing this, Leitch attempted to make peace but instead, the suspect pulled a pair of scissors from his pants waist and stabbed the peacemaker once to his chest and ran away.
Leitch was rushed to the Port Mourant Public Hospital where he was treated and transferred to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital where he was admitted a patient. His condition is given as stable.
Checks were made for the suspect but he was not arrested.
