Pedal cyclist critical after WCD accident

A 56-year-old pedal cyclist is in critical condition, after he was struck down by a vehicle on Friday night while crossing the Meten-Meer-Zorg Public Road, West Coast Demerara.
Harrychand Dhanraj of Prem Nagar, Meten-Meer-Zorg, WCD, is critical at the West Demerara Regional Hospital.
Enquiries have since revealed that at about 19:00h, a 23-year-old man of Mc Watt Street, Vergenoegen, East Bank Essequibo, was driving a motor car along the said roadway when the cyclist reportedly rode out of Water Pump Street.
Dhanraj allegedly continued proceeding across the road from south to north in a zig-zag manner and into the path of the motor car, where his bicycle collided with the front side of the vehicle.
He made contact with the bonnet and the front windscreen, then unto the corner of the road where he received a wound to his head and foot.
The injured man was picked up in a conscious condition by the driver and taken to Leonora Cottage Hospital where he was seen and examined by the doctor on duty. He was later transferred to the West Demerara Regional Hospital and admitted a patient in a critical condition.
Police are continuing their investigation. (G12)
