Home News Pedal cyclist injured after being struck by motor car
A pedal cyclist was on Saturday evening injured after he was struck down by a motor car along the Chateau Margot Public Road, East Coast Demerara (ECD). The injured man is 23-year-old Timothy Bacchus of Pigeon Island, ECD.
Based on information received, the motor car, PYY 3530, driven by a 52-year-old man of Good Hope, ECD, was proceeding along the Chateau Margot Public Road at a normal rate of speed when it is alleged Bacchus was seen riding at the middle of the road.
The driver of the motor car claimed that Bacchus swerved to avoid contact with an unknown motor car and ended up in his path thus resulting in a collision.
As a result, the pedal cyclist fell onto the roadway where he sustained injuries about his body. He was subsequently picked up by an ambulance and taken to Georgetown Public Hospital where he was treated and admitted for observation.
A breathalyser test was conducted on the driver but there were no traces of alcohol in his system. An investigation is ongoing.
