Pedal cyclist injured after colliding with motorcar

Twenty-nine-year-old pedal cyclist Tarmattie Ramlall of Canfield, East Canje Berbice is now a patient at the New Amsterdam Hospital after she allegedly collided with a motorcar on Monday.
The Police have said that on the day in question, at about 15:00h, motorcar PHH 3687, driven by a 34-year-old man of Betsy Ground, East Canje Berbice, was proceeding south along the eastern drive lane of the Canfield Public Road while Ramlall was proceeding in the said direction.
It is alleged that while the driver was in the process of passing the pedal cyclist, she made a sudden right turn, thus resulting in her colliding with the front left side fender of the car. As a result, she fell onto the windscreen and then onto the road surface, where she received injuries about her body.
She was picked up in an unconscious state, and taken to New Amsterdam Public Hospital, where she was treated and admitted a patient in a stable condition.
The driver of the motorcar was arrested and was subjected to a breathalyzer test, which showed no trace of alcohol in his system. Investigations are ongoing.
