Pedal cyclist injured following collision with cop

A pedal cyclist is now suffering from brain injuries at the Georgetown Public Hospital following an accident along the Cummings Lodge, Railway Embankment, East Coast Demerara (ECD) on Wednesday.
The injured man has been identified as 55-year-old Suresh Persaud, a labourer of Industry Front, ECD.
According to information received, a motor car bearing registration number PAB 4328 driven by a Police Constable was proceeding along the Cummings Lodge, Railway Embankment when it is alleged that the pedal cyclist swerved right into the path of the motor car.
As a result, the left side front fender of the motor car collided with the rear of the pedal cycle. Persaud reportedly fell onto the parapet and received injuries about his body.
He was picked up in a conscious state and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was seen and examined by a doctor on duty. He was subsequently admitted to the medical facility suffering from brain injuries.
His condition, however, is regarded as stable. The Police Constable remains in custody pending further investigation.
