The Police have launched an investigation into the death of a pedestrian after he was killed in an accident involving two drunk drivers.
Police on Saturday said that the dead man was yet to be identified.
Reports are the accident occurred about 01:30h on Ruby Public Road, East Bank Essequibo.
Guyana Times was told that two motor cars were involved in the accident. Investigations have revealed that motor car PRR 459 was proceeding west along the southern carriageway when it struck down the pedestrian who was allegedly walking in the centre of the road.
This publication understands that immediately after, PWW 6353, which was also proceeding in the same direction, hit the pedestrian.
Public-spirited residents picked up the pedestrian and rushed him to the Leonora Cottage Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Both drivers were taken into custody and were found to be above the legal alcohol limit. Investigations are continuing.
