A yet to be identified woman was killed on the East Coast Demerara (ECD) public road on Monday evening, after she allegedly ran into the path of a moving vehicle.
The accident occurred sometime around 22:20h along the Goedverwagting Public Road, ECD.
The vehicle which fatally struck the pedestrian
Based on reports received, motor car bearing registration number PRR 6071 which was driven by a Thomas Street, Kitty, Georgetown, resident, was proceeding along the roadway when the accident occurred.
It was noted that the vehicle collided with the pedestrian after she reportedly ran into its path from South to North. The injured woman was picked up and rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where she was admitted.
However, the woman succumbed to her injuries about 05:30h on Tuesday while receiving medical attention.
Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle, who passed a breathalyser test, remains in custody assisting with the investigation.
