An another accident, this time at Buxton, East Coast Demerara, an unidentified pedestrian was in the wee hours of Friday killed while a 17-year-old girl is hospitalised after a car driven by an alleged drunk driver turned turtle at Buxton.
Reports are the car bearing registration plates PVV 4355 was proceeding along the East Coast Highway when two other vehicle, travelling in the opposite direction, drove into its lane.
As a result, the 21-year-old driver of Annandale, ECD, swerved and collided with the pedestrian who was walking on the parapet. The car then crashed through a wooden fence and toppled several times before landing with its wheels in the air.
The injured pedestrian along with the girl who was a passenger of the car were rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where the pedestrian was pronounced dead and the teenager admitted in a stable condition.
Meanwhile the driver was tested and found to be over the legal alcohol limit. He is presently at the medical facility seeking medical attention under Police guard.
