The second edition of the Pele Alumini Corporation (PAC), Youth Education Development Programme came to an end on Wednesday afternoon last at the Carifesta Sports Complex and has been deemed a ‘resounding success’ by Coordinator, Dennis Ivor Carrington, one of the Alumini Directors.
Two days of interactive sessions which also included a visit to Parliament Buildings saw the youths ranging from ages 10-16 being exposed to a number of topics were aimed at enhancing their knowledge, inclusive of Careers Guidance, Public Speaking, Dental Hygiene, Conflict Resolution, Goal Setting for a Positive Life, Preparing for the Future, Benefits of Sports, Etiquette and Information Technology.
The jubilant youth were also presented with tee shirts and back packs containing educational and personal hygiene items.

Carrington, in an invited comment said that this year’s programme was satisfying given the amount of students participating, the level of interaction and involvement.
“Despite some challenges we were able make adjustments as we went along to ensure the kids had a fun time. I believe that the detailed planning we put into this activity also bore fruit; the kids enjoyed it immensely, especially learning new things about themselves.”
The former national footballer also shared that the participants were taught how to use a knife and fork and most of them said that they are happy now that they have learnt the art. The gift certificates he said were compliments of one of the Alumini’s sponsors who felt the need to give something extra to the youths towards educational supplies for school.
“It’s in addition to the back packs with school supplies and the jerseys with Pele colours that they can wear proudly for their participation in the two-day educational programme. Planning for next year has already commenced Carrington noted.
The planning Committee will meet today to review the programme and to assess areas of strengths and weaknesses with a view to make the programme better for the youths come 2019.
