Pensioner chopped during argument

A pensioner is now a patient at the Port Mourant Public Hospital after he was attacked and chopped during an argument with another man at Ankerville, Port Mourant, Corentyne, Berbice, on Sunday evening.
The injured man has been identified as 70-year-old Mohammed Ghani also called “Ashook” of Ankerville, Port Mourant. Based on information received, on the day in question at about 21:00h, the pensioner was in his yard when an argument broke out between him and the suspect.
Police stated that the 26-year-old suspect became annoyed, armed himself with a cutlass, ran into the victim’s yard and dealt him one chop to his lower back. After committing the act, the suspect left the man’s yard and went about his business.
The injured pensioner was taken to the Port Mourant Hospital by relatives where he was treated and admitted a patient. The matter was reported and the suspect was subsequently arrested.
He is expected to make his court appearance later in the week.
