Pensioner found murdered in home

A pensioner was found dead in his yard at Annandale, East Coast Demerara (ECD), with injuries to his head and right eye. The dead man has been identified as 72-year-old Krishnachand Dabee of Lot 149 Annandale South, ECD.
Reports are the man’s body was discovered at about 19:00h by his daughter and Police.
Guyana Times was told that the deceaed’s daughter, Ramona Dabee, a lecturer at the University of Guyana, made several attempts to contact her father but the telephone went unanswered and she went to the Vigilance Police Station and made a report.
In responding to the report, a team of Police ranks went to the house at Annandale with the daughter and there they found the senior Dabee lying face up with injuries to his right eye and to the back of his head.
The Police have since confirmed that one of the rooms in the house was ransacked and from all indications, Dabee was killed during a robbery.
When contacted, the man’s daughter declined to speak about the incident, stating that the family is in mourning.
Guyana Times understands that the man lived with his wife who has been a patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital for the past month. At the time of the suspected robbery, the man was at home alone.
A resident in the area told this publication that the now dead man’s wife was a teacher and after retiring, she fell ill. According to the resident, the woman is currently hospitalised.
“When I passing, I does see he watering his plants in the yard… he is a kind of reserved person; one who always keep to himself,” the resident said.
The man’s body was taken to the Lyken’s Funeral Home where it awaits a post-mortem examination as Police continue their investigations.
