Pensioner on bail for touching girl’s private parts

Gregory Gordon, also known as “Isiah,” a 66-year-old taxi driver of Lot 24 Duncan Street, Newtown, Kitty Georgetown, was on Wednesday arraigned before Chief Magistrate (ag) Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus in that Georgetown magistrate’s court on a charge of engaging in sexual activity with a child under the age of 16 years.
The charge Gordon faces details that between January and March of this year, he groped the child’s intimate parts at a Georgetown property. The virtual complainant is undergoing counselling in respect to this incident.
The Sexual Offences Act of 2010 stipulates that an individual is guilty of an offence if that individual causes or incites the complainant to engage in sexual activity with a third party, engages in sexual activity (excluding sexual penetration) with a child under the age of sixteen, or causes the complainant to perform a sexual act, such as masturbating.
If found guilty on a summary charge, an offender faces a five-year jail sentence; if found guilty on an indictment, the penalty is 10 years.
Represented by Attorney-at-law Bernard DaSilva, Gordon has been placed on bail in the sum of $200,000, and has been ordered by the magistrate not to speak with the virtual complainant and to keep 300 feet away from her. He is due back in court on December 14.
