After winning their 7th title in the Diamond Mineral Water Indoor Hockey Festival in Guyana, the Pepsi Hikers will now seek to take the title of the 12th annual Ventures Hockey Club Indoor Hockey Tournament in Trinidad and Tobago.
The tournament is expected to run from today until January 10, and will be played at the Woodbrook Youth Facility, Hamilton Holder Street, Port of Spain from 09:00h daily.
Pepsi Hikers have remained undefeated in the 2016 season, walking away with the Lucozade Indoor Hockey Championships and the GTT indoor tournament as well.
Hikers snatched a 5-3 win over Toronto Lions during the DMW Festival to cap off their excellent 2016 season.
The team boasts a host of talented players who have all excelled in the recent tournaments, including rising star Aroydy Branford who was named male Most Valuable Player (MVP) on two separate occasions, as well as finished the leading goal scorer for 2016.
The team will be looking for the experience of stalwart Robert France to guide them and lead from the front as he is no amateur with the stick, while their defence will be spearheaded by one of the best goalkeepers on the local scene, Jason Hoyte, who impressed fans during the DMW festival.
The contingent includes: Robert France(Captain), Aroydy Branford (DMW 2016 Men’s Category MVP), Jason Hoyte (DMW 2016 Men’s Category Best Goal Keeper), Jamraj Assanah, Andrew Stewart, Randy Hope, Rayon Branford, Paramanand Dindial and Devin Munroe.
