Permaul keen on extending dominance in upcoming Regional 4-Day

West Indies and Guyana left-arm spinner Veerasammy Permaul is aiming to extend his dominance when the Regional 4-Day tournament bowls off next month.
Permaul who returned to Test cricket with a five-wicket haul against Sri Lanka in November 2021, has said he had to grab his opportunity with both hands and maximise.
“It is always a good feeling to play Test cricket. over the years, I was doing pretty well in First-class cricket, and did not have the opportunity, and I was waiting for the opportunity. I know that whenever the opportunity presented itself, I would be more experienced and grab it with both hands,” the 32-year-old has said.

The left-arm spinner who played a Test match in June 2015 and then returned until 2021 is focused on adding to his tally of 544 First-class wickets after 122 matches. And in the process, Permaul wants to bring the 4-Day championship back to Guyana.
“Continue doing what I was doing over the years for Guyana. Go out, get wickets, and try as much to see if we can win back Regional Four-Day. We won it five years straight, and the last season was a mishap; and hopefully, this time around, we can get it back,” he declared.
Permaul’s road to a return is an inspiration to many. Despite being consistent but being knocked down the door in Regional 4-Day cricket, Permaul kept pushing towards a recall, which eventually came. When asked if he ever felt like giving up, Permaul said: “Like I always said, I always believe in God, that I know the opportunity will come, but I did not know when. And I knew that once it came, I had to maximise and grab it and use it to full advantage.”
