Defending champion Avinash Persaud will lead a 36-member Lusignan Golf Club contingent to the 2026 DSB Suriname Invitational Golf Championship in Paramaribo later this month, as the Guyanese golfers seek honours across several divisions.

Persaud, a 14-time Guyana Open champion, won the overall title at the 2025 tournament. Having also captured the 2026 SBM Offshore Championship, he heads back to Suriname with another major victory behind him.
Lusignan’s challenge includes several other past winners, with Patanjilee “Pur” Persaud, Patrick Prashad and Brian Hackett bringing championship experience to the delegation.
Patanjilee Persaud will defend the B Flight title he secured in 2025. He also won the inaugural National Top Flight Golf League championship in 2026, adding to his achievements ahead of the trip.
Prashad, the 2024 DSB Suriname Invitational champion, enters after winning Tour No. 2 of the National Top Flight Golf League this year. Hackett, who claimed the Suriname tournament’s B Flight crown in 2023, won Tour No. 1 of the same league in 2026.
Chet Bowling will also look to build on a successful season. After finishing second in the B Flight at last year’s Suriname Invitational, he won Tour No. 3 of the National Top Flight Golf League and the inaugural President’s Cup in 2026.
Carlos Adams adds further experience, having placed third in the Senior Flight at the 2025 tournament. He previously finished third in the C-Flight in 2022.
Multiple-time ladies’ champion Dr Joaan Deo is also included, giving Lusignan an experienced contender in the women’s competition.
The delegation combines established tournament players with golfers seeking to turn their local performances into success against international opposition. Ian Gouveia is among those making the journey and will return to compete in Suriname after several years away.
While the players will pursue individual results, the visit also provides an opportunity to represent Lusignan and Guyana collectively. Competition against Surinamese and other international golfers will test the club’s depth and help strengthen ties between the neighbouring countries’ golfing communities.
The full contingent comprises Carlos Adams, Rohan Albert, Kishan Bacchus, Feroze Barakat, Alista Bishop, Dusty Bledsoe, Chet Bowling, Troy Cadogan, Joaan Deo, Maurice Deo, Vishal Dhanai, Roy Dhori, Sabi Dhori, Mohanlall Dinanauth, Orson Ferguson, Marlon George, Paton George, and Alan Glyn-Cuthbert.
Completing the group are Ian Gouveia, Brian Hackett, Fazil Hanif, Rakesh Harry, Roy Harry, Dharmdat Heerlall, Oliver Kassam, Chandra Lakeraj, JJ Madud, Mike Mangal, Maxim Mangra, Avinash Persaud, Karamchand Persaud, Patanjilee Persaud, Avinash Prashad, Patrick Prashad, Maurice Solomon, and Princessa Wilkie.
