Australian-born Jerome Buck was set to boost the country’s hockey program and lend expertise ahead of the Central America and Caribbean (CAC) Games campaign by being their Technical Director and National women’s coach but personal reasons will see the specialist not fulfil the initial plans.
This is according to President of the Guyana Hockey Board (GHB) Phillip Fernandes who explained, “unfortunately due to personal reason he had to cancel and we will be looking to who can fill that role”.
Fernandes added it’s important they find a replacement now, so that they can get into the serious work of preparing for the games
The GHB head served for years as the national women’s coach until relinquishing duties to Dwayne Scott for the 2017 Pan American Indoor Championships which were was hosted in Guyana but resumed duties to lead the national women’s team to the CAC outdoor qualifiers in Jamaica.
The country’s senior teams qualified after finishing second in the male division while the women won their division at the CAC Qualifiers in Jamaica last year. CAC Games runs from July 19 to August 3 in Colombia.
