The Guyana Police Force has issued a wanted bulletin Gavin Shepherd, also known as “Pepsi”, of Krishna Street, Tuschen New Housing Scheme, East Bank Essequibo, in relation to the murder of an elderly couple on April 4, 2016, at Good Hope, East Bank Essequibo.
The man is wanted by the Police for questioning in relation to the murders committed on Mohamed and Jamila Munir.
Anyone with information leading to the arrest of Gavin Shepherd is asked to contact the Guyana Police Force on telephone numbers 226-4585, 225-2700, 225-0593, 225-6411, 229-2750, 229-2019, 268-2222, 268-2328, 268-2329, 911 or the nearest Police station.
All information will be strictly confidential, the Police said.
According to reports on April 17, 2016, Mohamed Munir, 75; and his wife, Jamilla Munir, 70, who were popular rice farmers, were burned to death in their home, allegedly by bandits who invaded the premises.
According to residents at the time, the couple was trapped in their bedroom when gunmen set the building alight.
In December 2016, four men – Sanjay George, called “Coolie Boy”; Jason Howard, called “Smelly”; Joel Blair, called “Joey”; and Shabadeen Mohammed, called “Milo”, were remanded to prison for the murders.
At that time, it was reported that the men confessed to the crime and implicated Gavin “Pepsi” Shepherd in the murder.
