Peterson, Oudit winners of GAPF Deadlift Competition

The Guyana Amateur Powerlifting Federation (GAPF) on Sunday successfully held a fundraising barbecue and Deadlift competition at the Saint Stanislaus College Auditorium.

Carlos Peterson emerged the male champion of the GAPF Fundraising Deadlift Competition

In the female category, Lisa Oudit of Buddy’s Gym emerged champion, while Carlos Peterson of the Scott Carlise Fitness Centre was crowned King in the male category.
With a bodyweight of 78.4kg, Lisa Oudit came up against Jacqueline Toney (72.74kg) and mustered enough power to win the overall female trophy, lifting the most weight to cop first place among her female peers.
Oudit had a best lift of 120kg to end with 111.1 Wilks points, which was enough to land her the first place in both instances. Toney could manage only 105kgs, to end with 101.8 Wilks points.
In the men’s competition, Peterson, who weighs some 93.4kg, despite failing to hoist 706lbs, managed to win overall, ahead of Rashleigh Bentick of Fitness Paradise Gym and third placed Bishen Sasenarine of Outkast Gym.
Petterson’s best lift of 300kg resulted in him accumulating 188.1 Wilks points, which was more than enough to hand him the winning trophy for male competitors, in addition to the overall trophy for the male lifting the most weights.
Second placed Bentick had a best lift of 225kgs for a Wilks points’ total of 157.3; third place Sasenarine managed a best lift of 185kgs and Wilks Points of 125.5.
The event was held to ensure that a full team from Guyana attends the annual NAPF/Caribbean and NAPF/FESUPO Powerlifting Championships in Orlando, Florida slated for July 3-8.
