Horse racing action will return to the Kennard’s Memorial Turf Club at Bush Lot, Corentyne on Sunday March 17 with six races being on a provisional Phagwah race programme.
The feature race would be the C1 & Lower over one mile, and the top horse would be rewarded with one million dollars.
Other races on the card are:
G1 and Lower, J&K Class, and three-year-old Guyana-bred horses; all of which would be run over a distance of six furlongs.
The L Class Open and L Non- winner races will be run over five furlongs, and they conclude the provisional program for the Phagwah meet.
All these races will be run under the rules of the Guyana Horse Racing Authority. In event there are less than five horses entered for any event, the club reserves the right to cancel or reframe the said event, or reduce the prize money after consulting with the horse owners.
A horse owner must pay at least $5,000 at the point of entry to have his/her animal registered to compete in a race. Otherwise, the horse would not be eligible to compete.
Five horses must start a race before a third prize is payable, and seven horses must start before a fourth prize becomes payable.
If there are only four horses starting in a race, the prize money would be reduced by 25%. If only three horses start, the prize money would be reduced by 40%.
No late entry would be accepted. Horses can be entered by contacting the club.
