Phoenix Karate, 3Ryu Karate Club complete Grading Exams

On Monday, August 6, Phoenix Karate and 3Ryu Karate Club came together to grade the students from their respective clubs under the parent organization of the International Karate Daigaku (IKD), which is headed by Shuseki Shihan Frank Woon-A-Tai.
Shihan Woon-A-Tai, who is in Guyana to conduct examinations and training for all the Dojos that fall under the IKD, oversaw the exams along with Sensei Roland Fanfair of 3Ryu and Senpai Michael Hing of Phoenix. Twelve karateka from Phoenix Karate and 6 from 3Ryu Karate Club went through their paces of kata and sparring.
Only one karateka, Sadiah Bradford, successfully graded for her 1st Dan performing kata, kata bunkai and freestyle sparring, while 2 other karateka, Uthan Henry and Darrel James, skipped belts from 5th to 3rd kyu, and 4th to 2nd kyu respectively. These were students of Phoenix Karate.
After congratulating all of the students and encouraging them to continue training, Master Woon-A-Tai spoke of the upcoming 50th Anniversary in November. It has been almost 55 years that he has been training and 50 years teaching the martial art.
