A phone technician, who reportedly stole a phone, was taken before the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts to answer to the charge.
Derwin Singh, 25, of Sophia, Greater Georgetown denied the charge, which alleged that he on August 21 at Merriman’s Mall stole one gold coloured Samsung Galaxy phone valued ,000 property of Gavin Thomas.
According to the Prosecution’s case, the defendant went to the Virtual Complainant’s (VC’s) shop at the Merriman’s Mall and asked to borrow his phone. However, while the VC was attending to another customer, the defendant used the opportunity to escape with the phone.
Prosecutor Shawn Gonsalves told the court that the matter was reported and the defendant was arrested and charged. He was granted bail at the sum of ,000 and is expected to return to court on September 15.
In the meanwhile, a Hadfield Street, Lodge resident was bailed at the sum of ,000 when he appeared before the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts also charged for stealing a phone.
Garfield Agard, 55, pleaded not guilty to the charge which alleged that he on August 19 at Duncan Street, Lodge, Georgetown stole one cell phone valued ,000 property of Andrea Gibson.
The defendant vehemently denied that he stole the phone and revealed that he is constantly being accused by family members for such offenses.
He is expected to return to court on August 25.
