Pizza Hut GCC blows away Spartans

Pizza Hut GCC blew away new comers Bingo Spartans on Sunday when play in the Bounty Paper Towels Outdoor Development Hockey League continued at the St. Stanislaus College Ground, Carifesta Avenue.
GCC won 6 – 2 against their opponents in the Women’s Second Division while Old Fort and Woodpecker Hikers battled to a draw.
Carina Moller led the way for GCC with a helmet-trick of goals as Vanessa Pires drew first blood in the 10th minute then Sarah Klautky doubled the lead three minutes later. Moller recorded the first of her four in the 15th minute as the half ended with the new comers trailing, 0 – 3.

Moller then piled on goals in the 22nd, 26th and 32nd minutes while Spartans endured the fight to record two consolation goals in the final half. Macaela Harding opened Spartans’ scoring while Dominque de Groot accounted for the other goal.
In the under-19 category Hikers humbled Saints Splinters 3 – 0 and GCC Pitbulls sank Joseph Warriors 2 – 0.
Baraka Garnett recorded a second half hat-trick to see Hikers home after the half ended with neither team being able to score. Garnett struck in the 35th, 36th and 37th minutes to take the fight out of the opposition.
In the other game, a goal each from Tariq Nelson and Seth Jeffery was enough to give the Pitbulls a win.
The Men’s Second Division saw Old Fort squeeze past Bounty GCC 3 – 2 and GCC The Sequel defeated Saints Under-19s.
Old Fort completed an amazing come-from-behind win as a goal each from Shaquille Leung and Meshach Sargeant put Bounty GCC ahead at the half. However, in the second half, it was all Old Fort who had a double from Jael Gaskin and the decider being scored by Omar Hopkinson. The league is scheduled to continue on Saturday and Sunday at the same venue from 15:00h.
