Plaisance crowned champions

Marian Academy Invitational Inter-School Basketball Tournament

President’s College Royals and Plaisance High School emerged winners of the Marian Academy two-day inter-school tournament which concluded on Saturday afternoon at the school’s Carifesta Avenue court.

The competition organized by the 5th form students of Marian was used as a basis to further prepare the students for next year’s CXC Physical Education exams. Friday saw make and female teams from; St Roses, Plaisance, President’s College and Marian duking it out for an opportunity to secure spots in the finals.
After an intense day of action on Friday, President’s College ladies locked horns with the Marian Academy girls, beating them 5-2 in a very low-scoring encounter to secure the female title with Saffiya Green being adjudged MVP for her 2 points and five rebounds.
Following the disposal of President’s College boys on Friday, Plaisance asserted themselves as the top team by destroying Marian Academy boys 62-31. MVP Nigel Bowen racked up 17 points, 20 rebounds, 4 steals and 5 turnovers. Andrew Johnson chipped in with 17 points and Shemar Payne 15 points, ensured the victory was a commanding one.
