Plaisance edge West Ruimveldt B to win U-13 tourney

Plaisance won the inaugural Banks DIH Limited/Alex Bunbury Sports and Academics Academy U-13 football champions after edging West Ruimveldt-B on sudden death penalty kicks yesterday at the Parade Ground on Saturday.

With the score locked at 0-0 at full time, the East Coast unit prevailed over their counterparts by a 4-3 score line.

Due to the victory, Plaisance walked away with the championship trophy and the winners’ medals while West Ruimveldt-B pocketed the second place accolade and the respective medals.

In the third-place play-off Tigerbay downed Eastville also by a 4-3 score line after regulation time ended 0-0. For their effort, Tigerbay walked away with the respective trophy and medals.

Azandee King of Plaisance was awarded the event’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) while Kevon Mullings of Tigerbay copped the Highest Goal Scorer accolade.

In the semi-final rounds, the East Coast of Demerara unit sealed their berth to the final after edging Tigerbay 4-3 whilst West Ruimveldt-B progressed to the finale 10-9 via sudden death kicks after normal time ended scoreless in their match with Eastville.
