Plaisance man brutally chopped during scuffle

A 28-year-old man of Sparendaam Squatting Area, East Coast Demerara (ECD), managed to escape death on Sunday evening after he was attacked and brutally chopped about his body by a 36-year-old man.
The injured man has been identified as Jevon McPherson. Police stated that the incident took place at around 19:10h.
Based on reports received, on the day in question the victim was seated on a chair next to a nearby wooden stall when he was attacked by the suspect who was armed with a cutlass.
As a result, a scuffle ensued between the two men, and they ended up in a nearby trench.
It was then the suspect dealt the victim several chops about his body, causing him to receive injuries. The suspect subsequently made good his escape.
Following the incident, the victim was picked up by Police and escorted to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was admitted a patient.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday this publication reached out to Regional Commander Khali Pareshram, who said the suspect remains at large but the Police have launched a manhunt to apprehend him.
