Plaisance Panthers and Den Amstel were among the teams that secured convincing wins over the weekend in the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) National Milling Company (NAMILCO) Thunderbolt Flour Power National Under-17 inter- Association league.
Playing at the Melanie Community Centre ground on Sunday, as part of the East Demerara Association leg, Panthers got the better of Victoria Kings by 2-1 margin due to goals by Jaheel Hinds in the 65th and Jermain Thomas in the 75th; Kevin Maxwell netted for the losers in the 33rd.
In the other match, Buxton United drew with Mahaica Determinators 1-1; Kobe Durant was the man on point for Buxton when he hit home in the 20th while Ozelle Nicholas fond a late equalizer in the 60th.
On Saturday, Golden Grove crushed Buxton Stars 6-0 while Bachelors/Adventure Paradise Sports Club defeated Buxton Youth Developers 4-2.
Shamar Kingston opened the scoring in the 18th minute, his first of three strikes, Delron Skeete increased their advantage in the 30th minute before Kingston registered his double on minute later. The rout continued in the second period as Kingston completed his hat-trick three minutes into the resumption.
The score line ballooned to 5-0 as Clevon Montrose netted in the 60th minute and the finishing touch was then applied four minutes later as Michael Woode added his name to the scorer’s sheet.
Similarly, the contest between Bachelors/Adventure Paradise Sports Club and Buxton Youth Developers was basically over at the end of the first half.
Ingram Charles opened the scoring with a ninth minute strike before Colin Hendricks doubled their advantage in the 22nd minute.
Tichard Gordon got into the scoring a 30th minute conversion before laying on the second in the 40th minute to push the score to 4-0.
Complacency highlighted the second period for Bachelors/Adventure Paradise Sports Club as they took their foot off the gas, allowing the Buxtonians to record consolation goals in the 57th and 75th minute through Jaffarel Williams and Akeem Adonis respectively.
Over in the West Demerara leg, Den Amstel and Slingerz produced a seven goal thriller with Den Amstel winning 4-3. Ruben Danty and Keshwar Russell recorded doubles to lead the host victory. Danty opened the scoring in the 2nd and Russell followed suit with another goal in the 3rd.
The hosts continued to look the dominant team until some brilliance from Odell Duncan in the 6th minute reduced the lead for Slingerz in the 6th minute.
Danty, added another goal next to his name in the 35th but the seesaw battle continued when Duncan fond the back of the net in the 42nd.
Just moments after half-time Ronaldo Massy found the equalizer in the 57th as both team had the momentum going for them. When it seemed a draw was looming, Russell etched this name on the score sheet for the second time in the 70th and sealed the win.
On Saturday, Wales claimed three points without breaking a sweat as they defeated Beavers FC via walkover.
