Two exciting matches will be played today as the finalists in the GFF–KFC National U20 “Independence Cup” are to be decided. Thus Dynamic FC will face Botofago FC at 13:00hrs, and Fruta Conquerors FC will play Santos FC at 15:30hrs.
Both these matches will be played at the GFF’s National Training Centre at Providence, EBD.
The semifinalists were decided following last weekend’s quarterfinals, with the respective teams triumphing over their equal number from respective Regional Member Associations, including Strikers FC from the Rupununi Football Association.
Each team will be hunting glory in today’s encounters, even as they had each recorded comfortable wins in their quarterfinal matches. Fruta Conquerors had brushed aside Buxton United by a 5-3 margin of goals, while Santos FC had dominated Strikers FC to register a 3-1 win.
Dynamic had triumphed over NA United by 3 goals to nil, and Botofago had edged Timehri Panthers by a 3-2 goal difference.
At culmination of the tournament, the victorious team will be rewarded with $500,000, a trophy and medals; 2nd place team will pocket $300,000, a trophy and medals; 3rd place team would pocket $200,000, a trophy and medals, while 4th place winner would have to settle for a trophy and medals.
The third-place playoff and finals are set for play on July 1 at the GFF National Training Centre at Providence.
