Prime Minister Brigadier (Ret’d), Mark Phillips, was on Saturday morning sworn in as acting President of Guyana by Chancellor of the Judiciary (ag), Justice Yonette Cummings – Edwards.
The simple ceremony occurred at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA), shortly after President Irfaan Ali departed for Dubai, where he will attend the Dubai 2020 Expo.
Guyana has fielded a delegation to the expo, which commenced on the first of October this year, and will conclude in March 2022.
Chief of Staff of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF), Brigadier Godfrey Bess and Commissioner of Police (ag), Nigel Hoppie, were also present during the swearing-in ceremony of the Prime Minister.
