PMTC 1 crowned champs at 6th Annual Balram Shane Volleyball tourney

Port Mourant Training Centre 1 (PMTC 1) showed why they are among the best volleyball units in Guyana, as they starred in the 6th Annual Balram Shane inter-club/Castrol of Demerara tournament held in the Ancient County of Berbice.
The Berbice Volleyball Association (BVA) sanctioned the tournament, which saw

some of the county’s best players as well as teams vying for cash and prizes.
Sunday’s event saw an all-out brawl between eventual champs PMTC1, PMTC2, Black Bush Polder, Rollers of New Amsterdam, and Castrol of Demerara.
With the tournament being set for the senior players, the prelude in the newbie categories saw Black Bush, Corriverton Jets and #47 doing battle, with Black Bush Polder toppling the Jets 30-22 in the final to win that category.
The senior event was filled with intensity, as the five teams sought to reach the final stage. In the end it was PMTC 1 and New Amsterdam’s Rollers which collided in the finals, having completed a number of wins during 2018. The PMTC 1, which is coached by Guyana Volleyball Federation (GVF) President Levi Nedd, easily overcame their opponents, beating them 30-21.
For their efforts, the champs walked away with the trophy and $20,000, while the runners-up settled for second place spoils of $10,000 and a trophy.
