Police arrest suspect in Mocha robberies

Hours after a group of persons were robbed in the vicinity of Second Bridge, Mocha, East Bank Demerara, ranks of the Guyana Police Force on Tuesday arrested the suspect.
According to the Force’s Public Relations Officer, Jairam Ramlakhan, the arrest was made sometime around 11:00h. The suspect is in custody assisting with investigations into the armed street robbery committed on a group of six persons, inclusive of three females during the early hours of Tuesday.
The suspect, 27-year-old Dillion Joel Dublin, of Lot 96 Nelson Street, Mocha, was positively identified by the victims on Wednesday. As such, the Police have instituted six counts of robbery under arms charges against Dublin and he will be arraigned before a Magistrate soon.
He is also being questioned in relation to the robbery and shooting of a cashier and supervisor which occurred at Plantation Providence at about 02:00h on Tuesday.
