Police burn Rupununi ganja field

A farmer from Central Rupununi, Region Nine (Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo) was arrested after he was found tending to a marijuana farm.
Based on reports from the Police Force, ranks from Lethem, acting on information received, went to Kumu Village, Central Rupununi and found cannabis under cultivation.
At the time, the 35-year-old farmer of Moco Moco Village, Central Rupununi, was seen watering the prohibited plants. He was arrested and taken into custody, where he is being processed for court.
Meanwhile, some one and a half acres of cannabis cultivation with about 100 seedlings and 300 plants measuring between one foot and four feet in height were photographed, and samples obtained before they were destroyed by fire.
