Police capture man who brutally assaulted ex-partner

After evading lawmen for more than a month, Brian Hutchins of Uitvlugt Side Line Dam, West Coast Demerara, who was wanted for brutally beating his ex-partner, was captured on Sunday morning.

According to reports received, Hutchins attacked Amrita Persaud on March 7, 2020, while she was returning home from work.
During the attack, he dealt Persaud several blows to her face and body. The incident was witnessed by the woman’s 14-year-old nephew.
Prior to that, Hutchins was accused of constantly abusing the young lady, causing her to end their 10-year relationship. It is believed that during the 10 years, Persaud was constantly abused.

er Simon McBean stated that the young man is known to the police.
In fact, the Commander explained that there were several reports lodged at the police station for Hutchins which does not include assaulting Persaud.
Prior to the assault on his ex-partner, the suspect was known for verbally abusing Police ranks.
