Police Constable critical after being stabbed by brother

A Police Constable attached to the Central Police Station, New Amsterdam, was on Monday evening stabbed by his brother during an argument at Canefield Settlement, East Canje, Berbice.
The injured rank, who has been identified as 29-year-old Raul Rodrigues of Canefield Settlement, was also beaten by his brother-in-law.

Police stated that on the day in question at about 18:00h, the suspects and the Police rank had a misunderstanding. This reportedly led to a scuffle. It was at this time, the 22-year-old brother of the victim armed himself with a knife and stabbed the victim several times to his abdomen and once to his right-side leg.
In addition, the 24-year-old brother-in-law who resides at the said address reportedly dealt the victim several cuffs about his body following his failed attempt to bring peace between the two brothers.
Due to the injuries sustained, Rodrigues was taken to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital where he was admitted a patient in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The two suspects were arrested and are assisting with investigations.
