Dead: Police Constable Cardiss Joseph

Preliminary investigations revealed that at approximately 12:50h on Sunday, the 33-year-old Joseph, of Lot 43 Stanleytown, New Amsterdam, Berbice, was off duty at the time and was driving a friend’s car, PPP 4196, along Company Road in Aroaima when the accident occurred.
He was reportedly driving at a fast rate towards the Waterfront Area when he lost control of the car. As a result of the accident, he reportedly was pitched out of the vehicle and landed on the roadway.
Police ranks who were on scene confirmed that two of the vehicle’s wheels were “soft”, suggesting that a blowout might have caused the accident.
Divisional Commander Linden Lord has described the incident as a very unfortunate incident. Joseph had been a member of the Force for the past 10 years.
His body was first transported to the Linden Hospital Complex (LHC), before being taken to the Upper Demerara Hospital mortuary at Wismar.
A post mortem is expected to be performed on Monday.
