Police Constable gets bail on theft charge

A Police Constable was on Monday charged with the offence of simple larceny. Constable Hill appeared before Magistrate Zamilla Ally-Seepaul at the Leonora Magistrate’s Court.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge filed contrary to Section 66 (c) of the Summary Jurisdiction (Offences) Act. He allegedly committed the offence against Ravindra Singh, a 27-year-old businessman of Hubu Public Road, East Bank Essequibo (EBE).
The incident occurred on April 14 at Singh’s business place at Tuschen, EBE. In the end, the Policeman was released on $10,000 bail. The case has been adjourned to June 3.
