Police Constable robbed after leaving ATM

Moments after withdrawing money from the Republic Bank’s Automated Teller Machine (ATM) at New Market and Waterloo Streets, Georgetown on Monday at about 6:30h, 54-year-old Richard Henry, a Constable attached to the Police Sports Club, was ambushed in the vicinity of Waterloo and Lamaha Streets Georgetown, and robbed by three men, one of whom was armed with a handgun.
He was relieved of $40,000 in cash.
The Policeman reportedly told investigators that while he was using the ATM, he observed silver grey Toyota Allion motor car PTT4907 with three occupants parked on Waterloo Street.
He explained that he rode away after withdrawing the money, but was soon after intercepted by the three occupants of the car. They exited the vehicle, and one of the perpetrators, brandishing a gun, reportedly told him to “pass the money you just draw”.
Fearful for his safety, Henry immediately complied. The men then re-entered the vehicle and fled the scene along Lamaha Street.
The Police were contacted, and an investigation was launched. Up to late Monday afternoon, the Police were reviewing the CCTV footage with the intention of apprehend the suspects.
