Police Constable to be charged with Sisters Village fatal accident

The Police Constable who is allegedly responsible for causing the death of 10-year-old Devin Sealey on the Sister’s Village Public Road, West Bank Demerara, is expected to make his first court appearance today at the Wales Magistrate’s Court.
The Police rank was charged with driving under the influence and causing death by dangerous driving. Both charges stemmed from the fatal accident which occurred on Sunday last.

Ten-year-old Sealey of Lot 904 Sister’s Village, WBD, was reportedly struck by the Policeman who was driving his motorcar bearing registration number PLL 222. According to reports, the Police rank was highly intoxicated and would have lost control of his motorcar while negotiating a turn in the vicinity of the Wales Police Station.
As a result, he slammed into a park motorcar with registration plates PGG 5099, then struck the lad before coming to a halt after colliding with a utility pole.
The child reportedly was flung into the air and landed on the roadway. From the impact and the fall, Sealey would have suffered broken arms and legs among other injuries.
He was picked up and taken to the West Demerara Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The Policeman however, would have also received injuries and was admitted a patient at the said hospital.
He was discharged on Tuesday and based on information reaching this newspaper, he would have given his colleagues a detailed statement about the fateful night.
Meanwhile, a post-mortem examination performed of the lad’s body proved that he died from multiple injuries. The autopsy was performed by Government Pathologist, Dr Nehaul Singh at the Ezikiel Funeral Home, Vreed-en-Hoop, WBD.
