An estimated $250 million worth of ganja was on Wednesday discovered and burnt during a joint eradication exercise at Maria Henrietta, Zion, and Kimbia along the Upper Berbice River.

Police stated that the extensive operation led to the discovery of five cannabis farms covering a total of approximately 20 acres, containing some 160,800 plants ranging between two and six feet in height.
In addition, three makeshift camps and five drying areas were found, which contained approximately 460 pounds of processed cannabis. All the cannabis plants, dried cannabis and camps were destroyed by fire.
The estimated street value of the destroyed narcotics is set at $250 million. No arrests were made during the exercise.
